Here is an introduction to our project.
The foodbank was founded in 2011 and serves the Glasgow South East Area, approx 100,000 people. We are supported by local churches and faith groups, local community groups and businesses and of course by the general public through dump baskets in supermarkets, weekly and ad hoc collections and financial donations. We have two paid workers and about 20 volunteers, without whom we couldn’t continue. Last year we fed 11,200 individuals and numbers are steadily increasing. We are always looking for volunteers to do supermarket uplifts, work in the foodbank, at supermarket collections and food sorts. We are also looking for someone to pick up bread for us on a Monday and Friday morning from the Hovis factory in Duke Street, if you can help please get in contact.
Due to present restrictions we have been able to move into larger premises but once social distancing is removed we will be unable to remain there and so we still desperately require larger premises. If you or anyone you know can help please contact us on 07456868628 or [email protected]
